Welcome to
EAT BIG GET BIG! 👋

My name is Dave.

By day, I’m a UX leader supporting User Research and Design System teams at a tech company.

When I’m not working, I like to lift heavy things and put delicious foods in my mouth that help me lift those heavy things.

I started my lifting journey back in 2015, fell in love with the iron ever since. In the early days, I was very focused on aesthetics, obsessed with optimizing my physique. I got very lean by working out a ton but also eating very clean meals - almost too clean. I tracked my food intake religiously, ate a lot of “chicken, rice and broccoli” and their equivalents. It got me results, but frankly it was also exhausting.

When I became a parent, I had to adapt how I train and how I eat. While some of my diet habits positively influenced how my kids eat (e.g., they’ll happy eat steamed broccoli or raw peppers, they prefer fish sashimi to fried fish sticks, etc.), it became increasingly unrealistic to keep up with my old diet habits as a parent. I needed to worry less about making meals “clean”, but had to focus on cooking delicious meals that are both nutritious and appealing to the whole family.

I still focused on the basic nutrition principles - making sure our meals are packed with protein, while balancing fat and carbs intake. But overall I worried less. Not watching my diet like a hawk not only allowed me to enjoy my meals much more, but also fuelled my lifts in the gym. I put on some decent size and got hella strong as a result.

So here I am, sharing my 10+ years of nutrition and lifting experiences with you.

I’m not a professional bodybuilder, powerlifter or registered dietitian.

I’m just an average #girldad who loves to eat big and get big.
