LIFT BAR - Frozen Protein Dessert Bar

Now this is creative.

This is the first protein-forward frozen treat I’ve come across (and the company also claims such). At $14.99 CAD for a box of 9, I thought the price is quite reasonable. The packaging is eye-catching - the minimalistic design with the bold text-forward style stands out among a sea of brightly coloured boxes in the frozen treat aisle.

And it tastes just fine.

With no added sugar, it definitely lacks that “treat” feel. I felt the polyols (artificial sweetener) doesn’t do enough to boost its sweetness, and it leaves a bit of an aftertaste, although not off-putting. I personally would’ve spared another 10 cal and added 2.5g of sugar to improve the overall taste, but I understand the allure of the “no added sugar” claim is a strong one.

The saving grace comes from its 11g of fat, which gives it a rich and satisfying profile. It also serves as a good binder that holds the bar together.
